LIFE Natura@night, Save a Seabird Scientific Brigades

Help rescue young seabirds disoriented by artificial lighting during their first journeys to sea. Volunteers patrol coastal streets, searching for stranded birds exposed to traffic, predators and other dangers. The scientific brigades combine practical conservation with data collection, helping researchers understand the impact of light pollution. Training prepares participants for the patrols, while occasional volunteers can contribute near their homes. The campaign offers an opportunity to support wildlife conservation through coordinated community action and learn about the threats facing seabirds. Email: [email protected] Registration deadline 22.10.2026 Participation requirements: Scientific brigade volunteers should be available for most patrol nights. Occasional patrol volunteers can indicate individual nights. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Bring waterproof clothing, suitable footwear and a torch or headlamp.
