Sea and Fisherman Fair

The Sea and Fisherman Fair celebrates Caniçal’s longstanding relationship with fishing and the Atlantic Ocean. Organised by Casa do Povo do Caniçal, the annual event recalls the experiences and traditions of the local fishing community while promoting the parish’s social, cultural and economic life. Visitors can discover recreational and cultural activities connected directly or indirectly with the sea and sample local gastronomic specialities, with particular emphasis on fish and seafood. The fair offers international visitors an opportunity to learn more about the maritime identity of one of Madeira’s best-known fishing communities.
