Supermarkets

There are two large supermarket chains in Madeira: Continente and Pingo Doce. In both you will find typical supermarket products - including cheap and good quality own brands. However, the product ranges vary from location to location - so always remember where you bought a product 😉 Pingo Doce also usually has a self-service restaurant with dishes at good prices. For “small” everyday purchases, however, we can definitely recommend the small padarias, supermercados and frutarias in the municipalities (exception: stores in tourist areas)!
