Lagoa do Calhau de São Jorge

The Lagoa do Calhau de São Jorge, which translates as the pebble lagoon, is located in São Jorge on the beautiful north coast of Madeira. Here, you can swim in a freshwater lagoon fed by the mountains and look out over the Atlantic Ocean at the same time 🤩 This bathing spot can be reached directly by car or you can combine the bathing experience with a great circular hike that starts above the lagoon at the Cabo Aéreo Café. You can park at the café, hike down to the lagoon, take a refreshing swim, finish the hike and enjoy a delicious snack in the café at the end (see link below).
