Course

From the Madre, at a weir, through an opening onto the inner side of the stream revetment and along it to the crossing with the Caminho do Estreito da Vargem, which leads south from Rosario.

From here along the eastern side of the valley above Rosario to the Lombo Garçes on the Encumeada pass road.

A branch leads onto the Lombo and eastwards, crossing the pass road to the other side. The main branch goes north on the Lombo to a small reservoir, where further branches leave. The main branch goes on and spills over a step to the end at the Encumeada pass road.

Function and use

Small levada for irrigating the eastern side of the valley above Rosario and the fields on the Lombo Garçes

• Road crossing south of Rosario

• Possibly a direct footpath to the Madre

• ER 228 east of Rosario

Condition

The Madre is somewhat exposed; otherwise easy, with many narrow little walls that need a bit of concentration.
