Access

• Corujeira de Baixo (on the road from Faial to Agua de Alto); in the village, the road up the hill until it crosses the levada

• Crossing of the levada with the ER-101

• In various places an approach can be found, with a little trial and error, via regional roads and fields.

Condition

The path is intact throughout, with no exposed sections. The end is somewhat overgrown. The levada is in operation as far as above Faial, then dry, but still in working order

Remarks

Highlight: the Madre lies in a beautiful Caldeirao, below the waterfall

Otherwise a relatively unspectacular course. One stretch has been moved into the rock face and can be bypassed. The interest is in the views and the different angles on the Penha de Aguia
