Function and use

Irrigation of the fields in Candelaria. The levada branches at every path junction and carries the water onto the scattered fields

Condition

The stretch from the Madre to the first houses, which may once have been tricky, is out of use. The stretch with the branches follows the paths.

Remarks

The stretch from the Madre to the houses in Candelaria is no longer in operation. The Levada Nova takes all the water of the Ribeira da Caixa and leads part of it through pipes to the Levada da Candelaria.
