Madeira has always been closely connected to the Atlantic Ocean and its fishing traditions. As a result, fresh fish and seafood play a central role in many of the island’s restaurants. From grilled tuna and black scabbard fish to limpets, octopus and seafood platters — this category is all about fish and maritime cuisine. Many of these restaurants are also located directly by the sea or in small coastal villages with a special atmosphere.
