Jumper point , Caniço
About this tip
You’ll find plenty of places around Madeira where locals jump straight into the Atlantic, but this spot in Caniço has actually made its way onto Google Maps as “Jumper’s Point” – so we’ve included it here for anyone looking for the exact location.
When facing the sea, head towards the left side of the bathing area. Once there, look along the coast: the rocky section with a sign indicating that diving is not allowed will be on your left, while the commonly used jumping spot is to your right.
Conditions along Madeira’s coast can change quickly, so never assume that a jump is safe just because others are doing it. Check the sea conditions, water depth and access before jumping – and if a lifeguard is on duty, ask them which areas are currently safe to use.
