Levada Nova / Levada do Moinho

This is a beautiful hike above Ponta do Sol that combines the Levada do Moinho with the Levada Nova. Together, they form a scenic circular route that is mostly flat (around 50 m of ascent up to the Levada Nova). Important: The Levada do Moinho near Ponta do Sol should not be confused with the official PR 7 – Levada do Moinho. This hike is not part of Madeira’s official PR trail network and is therefore not subject to the corresponding hiking fee. I have classified this hike as family-friendly as it is not particularly demanding. However, you should be sure-footed and comfortable with heights, as there are some unprotected but sufficiently wide sections along the route.
