Do Caco à Massa, Traditional Stone and Bread Workshop

Discover the craft behind bolo do caco, from shaping its traditional cooking stone to preparing the bread itself. Follow the creation of a soft volcanic stone baking slab and try the techniques used to make it, guided by museum staff Agostinha Reis, Fátima de Jesus and José Santos. Afterwards, Maria José Neves demonstrates the bread’s preparation using a traditional recipe collected in Porto Santo.
