Course

Lombo do Urzal, on PR 2 ascent to the Levada dos Tornos, Madre, downstream to the levada house above Faja do Penedo, descent to Faja do Penedo, Levada das Faias upstream to the Madre, back to the car by a trodden path

Distance: ca 19 Km ca. 200 m of ascent

Start: 10.00 Lombo do Urzal

End

16.30 Lombo do Urzal

Condition

No tunnels; on the Levada dos Tornos a few somewhat exposed spots with no protection; crux towards the Madre of the Levada das Faias (if you are taller than 180 cm, you may have to take your shoes off and walk barefoot in the levada)

Remarks

Very lonely, relatively long; with an early start no problem; great variety of vegetation and beautiful views
