Park at the end of the new road in the valley of the Ribeira da Ponta do Sol, ascent via concrete steps and a trodden path westwards to the Levada do Coronel, first a little past the junction with the regional road, downstream, then to the two Madres, descent to the valley floor of the Ribeira da Ponta do Sol, ascent to the Madre of the Levada do Moinho, downstream to Lombada, descent by the road back to the car, and on the way back by the lift to Faja das Padres and to Cabo Girao

Condition

Levada do Coronel dry at the moment, but only for seasonal reasons, no protection and very exposed in places; from the first Madre the path is in poor condition and still exposed; tunnel in excellent condition; descent to the valley floor with the help of reed canes; ascent to the Moinho pathless in the stream bed; Levada do Moinho slipped in 2-3 places, but passable

Remarks

Levada do Coronel practically deserted, constant view of the Levada do Moinho and the Levada Nova, which run at practically the same height and are relatively busy
