7 June 2024 From lombo to lombo on the Levada Nova

Course

We started at our holiday house on the Caminho dos Reis, accompanied by a beautiful rainbow, crossed via the Lombo do Lameiro to the Lombo do Castanheiro, and climbed there to the Levada Nova, then first against the flow as far as the Lombo das Ginhas.

Then in the direction of flow over the lombos Castanheiro, do Lameiro, dos Reis, do Serrao and dos Moinhos to the Lombo da Ribeira Funda, with its many greenhouses.

Then back to the Lombo do Serrao and along it back to the starting point.

Distance: 15.9 Km, 294 Hm ascent, 294 Hm descent

Condition

Both the ascent and descent paths and the Levada Nova are entirely straightforward!
