Course
The day before, we had found the sign on the ER101 for the turning of the old CR23 to the Capela do Cabo; today we wanted to have a look at that path.
We parked on the Lombo do Cabo at the ER101 and followed it for about 20 minutes towards Achadas da Cruz, as far as the turning.
Descent on the old CR23 to the idyllic valley with the crossing of the Ribeira dos Eiroses, and then on to Cabo, to the chapel and to the Fonte Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte.
On to the viewpoint on the Pico vermelho and along the path as far as the Caminho do Serado.
From here up on the path to the Levada Nova
First a stretch to the Lombo do Pedragal and then in the direction of flow as far as the end in Cabo.
Distance: 14.6 Km, 420 Hm ascent, 420 Hm descent

Condition
The levada section on the Levada Nova is straightforward
The descent from the ER101 to the chapel is broad and not dangerous
Remarks
A fine combination of levadas and field paths, full of views and variety, with many excellent viewpoints.
