Course

From the very fine Madre along the eastern side of the valley to the path that leads from the end of the access road in Fajã dos Vinhaticos to the road to Fajã das Éguas. Here there is a piped section that is somewhat exposed, and a somewhat slippery levada stairway.

After the crossing with the path it continues above the fields to a stream passage. Here, in 2022, all the water was led into the stream and caught further down in the Levada da Faja dos Vinhaticos. The levada continues in good condition to the Pousada dos Vinhaticos. After a short waterfall it meets the pass road to the Encumeada.

As no water was flowing on our visit, it is hard to tell what happens to the remaining water in the road ditch. Either it continues in the ditch towards Serra de Agua, or it follows more or less directly the ascent path from the Pousada to Faja dos Vinhaticos.
