Madrei

Old original Madre: Ribeira da Achada N 32°45.071 W 17°10.194 ca. 543 m a.s.l.

Current Madre: Ribeira do Raposo N 32°44.890 W 17°10.076 ca. 525 m a.s.l.

Course

Ruined course from the Ribeira da Achada to the Ribeira do Raposo

From the current Madre through forest and above the fields to the ER-211. Shortly before the road, the Moinho da Laje used to be worked; from the road the ruined mill can be seen, with the pressure tower, the cubo.

Here the levada splits into several terminal branches. The western branch leads onto the Lombo da Estrela; the eastern one runs along the Estrada Doutor Roberto Monteiro and splits further, first past the Moinho do Ribeiro, and later here off onto the Lombo das Laranjeiras. A further north-eastern branch and a south-eastern branch supply the southern part of the Lombo das Laranjeiras, and at least 3 western turn-offs (to the north, in the middle and to the south onto the Lombo da Estrela).

The terminal branches each end at about 375 m.

End

Lombo da Estrela ca. 375 m a.s.l., Lombo das Laranjeiras ca. 375 m a.s.l.
