Course

The Madre lies a little above the end of the Levada do Pico Furao in the Ribeiro da Gomeira, and can be reached from that levada by a bridge.

The Levada do Poiso runs along the right-hand slope of the Ribeiro da Gomeira

Irrigation of the area on the right-hand side of the Ribeiro da Gomeira valley

Via the end of the Levada do Pico Furao (new concrete steps and a bridge to the Madre area); PR 2 to the end

In 2017/2018 the levada seems to have been restored and made safe on a large scale; see the pictures by the Caminheiros Anonimos da Madeira from before the works
