Course
From Meia Legua via the stair climb to Furnas, climb by the small EWeg as far as the forest edge and then on the track to the Levada do Lombo do Mouro. To the Lombo do Mouro house and the Sergio sign; here I looked for the descent to the Levada das Rabacas,
Descent to the Madre of the Levada da Faja das Eguas, on to Faja das Eguas; I did not find the direct descent to Eira da Moura, on as far as the pass road, hitchhiked from the pass road to Meia Legua
Distance: ca. 22 km ca 1150 Hm on the ascent, 550 Hm on the descent
Start 08.15 Meia Legua
End
15.15 road to the Encumeada pass
Condition
The climb to Furnas is no problem, the shortcut is easy to find, then shortly before reaching the side road (after about 10 minutes) stairs up on the left, always follow the path, at the next houses (about 20 minutes) keep left towards the house with the red roof, straight on past the house, then about 2 minutes after passing the house up to the right on a faint path, then a driveable road (quite overgrown); always follow it as far as the ridge with the Levada do Lombo do Mouro, along it against the direction of flow as far as Lombo do Mouro, descent on a path that is good at first, the first cairn has no access to the Levada das Rabacas, above the Sergio sign (30 metres) a narrow faint path horizontally along the slope as far as the Levada das Rabacas. The further descent to Faja das Eguas is increasingly overgrown and in places destroyed. At the Madre of the Levada da Faja das Eguas, which is visible from far above, there is access to a gravel track; I looked for the descent to the other side of the stream and did not find it
Notes
A strenuous walk with tremendous views in every direction
