Remarks
Although there is no record of the date it was built, its owners are known to have been José Maria Ferreira and his wife Maria Leopoldina Sumares Ferreira. Because Jardim do Mar is and was rich in water, unlike the neighbouring parishes (Paul do Mar and Estreito da Calheta), the mill worked all year round, so its owner slept in the mill. From October until Christmas it was at its busiest, because people from outside Jardim do Mar also asked the miller to grind their wheat.
After the death of Mr José Maria Ferreira (1955) the mill still worked for some years, but over time, and because of the shortage of wheat, it ceased operating.
In 2005 the heirs donated it to the parish council, and it is now maintained as a small museum of the parish of Jardim do Mar. (Source: Wikipedia)
