In this category, you’ll find well-known sights and landmarks that many visitors want to experience during their time on Madeira. From Cabo Girão to some of the island’s most famous gardens, historic sites and other iconic landmarks, many of these places can absolutely be worth a visit. Just keep in mind: where lots of people want to go, things can naturally get busy. Especially at peak times, some of these attractions can draw large crowds and feel more tourist-oriented than many of our other recommendations. Our tip: choose the classics that genuinely appeal to you, visit at a quieter time of day whenever possible, and combine them with some of the lesser-known places that make Madeira so special.
