Monte Palace Tropical Garden

High above Funchal lies one of Madeira’s most impressive gardens. Monte Palace Tropical Garden blends naturally into the steep hillside, with winding paths, waterfalls, ponds and a wide variety of exotic plants from around the world. Between tropical vegetation, pagodas, sculptures and ornate Portuguese tiles, beautiful views over the Bay of Funchal appear again and again. Covering around 70,000 m², the garden combines nature, art and history and is also home to two exhibitions of the Monte Palace Museum. It is located in the Monte district and can be easily reached by cable car from Funchal.
