Jardim Municipal do Funchal

Jardim Municipal, also known as Dona Amélia Garden, is a small city park in the heart of Funchal. The green space is located on the grounds of a former Franciscan monastery and today feels like a small oasis between the streets of the city centre. Paths lead through the roughly 8,300 m² garden between palm trees, flower beds and old trees. A small pond and stream with ducks and fish create a calm atmosphere, while small stalls with local crafts or art are often found along the paths. A small amphitheatre regularly hosts concerts and cultural events. A café in the park is a pleasant place to take a short break in the greenery. During the Christmas season, the garden is also decorated with festive lights and becomes part of the holiday atmosphere in Funchal’s city centre.
