PR1: Pico do Arieiro - Pico Ruivo (Vereda do Areeiro)

Certainly one of the most spectacular hikes on the island! From the third highest mountain, Pico do Areeiro, to the highest mountain, Pico Ruivo. As this hike is very popular, it is advisable to either come directly at sunrise or - especially in summer - to do this hike later in the afternoon and hike back into the sunset. There is a small café at Pico Ruivo, but it only has a small selection and is overpriced. It is therefore best to take your own food and drinks with you. In total, there are around 8,000 steps to climb (2,000 down, 2,000 up and the same again on the way back). But it's worth it! A great hike!
