PR11: Vereda dos Balcões

The Vereda dos Balcões is a short but rewarding walk along an idyllic levada that leads to one of Madeira's most famous viewpoints > the Balcões viewing platform. The easily accessible, family-friendly path offers impressive views over the green valley and mountains, but can be muddy when wet and is often busy due to limited parking - best to start early and during the week. On the way there or back, it is worth stopping at the ‘Flor da Selva’ snack bar. The terrace offers a wonderful view of the valley, as well as authentic cuisine and extremely friendly and humorous hosts. Homemade honey and small souvenirs are also sold - perfect for taking a piece of Madeira home with you.
