PR9: Levada do Caldeirão Verde

The hike to the ‘Levada do Caldeirão Verde’ is like a walk through a green fairytale land. Starting from the charming Queimadas house, you follow the levada past spectacular views of São Jorge and the mighty mountains of Madeira, through narrow passages and mysterious tunnels - a torch and head protection are therefore recommended. At the end, the majestic Caldeirão Verde waterfall, which plunges into a crystal-clear lagoon, awaits you. If you are brave enough, you can venture into the ice-cold water here - an unforgettable experience before returning along the same route. In high season, however, the trail is very busy, so it is worth starting as early as possible or in the early afternoon.
